More Tex Avery MGM Model Sheets
More model sheets from the Amby Paliwoda collection. Although Amby was a Disney animator, he was very active in the Screen Cartoonists Union and the U.S. Army animation division during the 40's. It's probably there were he ran into the M.G.M. animation crew who gave him these classic sheets. Enjoy.

Tex Avery MGM Model sheets
Also from the collection of the late Amby Paliwoda are a few 1940's era Tex Avery model sheets from the MGM cartoon studio. I'm not sure if he worked there between projects at Disney but they were part of his collection at the time. Enjoy.

More Early Disney Model Sheets
Amby Paliwoda worked at Walt Disney's from 1935 to 1960. No doubt for Amby as a young recruit in the early thirties there was plenty of model sheet reference from earlier and present productions. These following examples are from some of the shorts preceding the production of Snow White in 1937, his first feature. You can imagine my eyes popping out of my head when he presented me with these in the 70's as a young teenage assistant animator. I was taking copious notes and working on building up some major pencil milage!

Classic Model Sheets
I have a few model sheets given to me by Disney animator Amby Paliwoda back in the 70's. Amby started working at Disney during the Three Little Pigs and stayed there for 25 years. I started my career as Amby's assistant at Duck Soup Produckions in the 70's doing various commercials spots. I'll be posting a few from time to time.

Rooty Toot Toot- Grim Natwick
I was thinking about the animators who first influenced me and helped my budding animation career at age 14. Grim Natwick comes to mind. Not only did he create Betty Boop and animate on Snow White, he was also picking up freelance at Duck Soup Productions from Duane Crowther in 1974. They were going over my first ever animation attempts, a recreation of an MGM Droopy scene which was way too tight. Duane showed me how to loosen up my stiff animation (done on a stereo record player cover as a lightbox).
Back at UPA, Grim was Duane's assistant. Here is a classic UPA short with some Grim Natwick animation in it from 1951...Rooty Toot Toot.
And here is Duane Crowther's rare student film Blum Blum from 1949. Duane went on to animate on The Beatles "Yellow Submarine".
